Washington (dpa) — The US military is assisting Israel in defending against Iranian missile attacks by intercepting ballistic missiles, according to reports on Friday from CNN and the news portal Axios, citing unnamed US and Israeli government sources.
The Axios report cited an Israeli and a senior US official as its sources, while CNN said it got its information from a US official.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had said that the United States is not participating in Israel’s attacks on Iran. The US military had already supported Israel in missile defence against Tehran’s attacks last year, under President Joe Biden. At that time, too, the US did not openly take part in Israeli attacks on Iran.

Iranian Missiles Destroy 9 Buildings in Tel Aviv Suburb
Tel Aviv (dpa) — Nine buildings in Ramat Gan, a suburb of the coastal metropolis Tel Aviv, have been destroyed in Iranian missile attacks on Israel, according to Israeli media reports on Friday.
Hundreds of flats were evacuated when a missile struck one building, the newspaper Haaretz reported.
At least 63 people have been injured so far, two of them seriously, according to the news portal ynet.
The Tel Aviv region is densely populated. During Iran’s counter-attack, missile alarms were triggered across large parts of Israel.
