Trump announced 25% tariffs

Washington (dpa) — US President Donald Trump says the United States will impose 25% tariffs on all countries that do business with Iran, announcing the move on his Truth Social platform.

“Effective immediately, any Country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a Tariff of 25% on any and all business being done with the United States of America,” he wrote, adding: “This Order is final and conclusive.”

His announcement comes as widespread anti-government protests in Iran continue, with reports that hundreds have been killed in a violent crackdown that has prompted Trump to consider a range of measures, including possible military options, to increase pressure on Tehran.
