Missile Fired From Yemen Strikes West Bank

Tel Aviv (dpa) — A missile fired from Yemen has struck the Israeli-occupied West Bank, the Israeli military said Friday.

The missile landed in the vicinity of Hebron without Israeli air defences firing any interceptor missiles, it said in a statement. Sirens sounded in the region.

The incident is still being investigated by the military, the statement added.

According to the Red Crescent rescue service, three Palestinian children were wounded by shrapnel. No reports of damage were initially available.

The Iran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen did not initially comment. It is possible that the attack was a response to Israel’s major strikes on targets in Iran.

Since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023, the Houthis have launched repeated rocket and drone attacks on Israel in solidarity with the Palestinian militant group Hamas. Israel has regularly responded with airstrikes on Yemen.
