Iran launched missile attack
Tel Aviv (dpa) — Iran on Wednesday launched its largest missile attack on Israel since the start of the war, the Times of Israel reported, citing the military, shortly before the start of the Jewish festival of Passover.
Eyewitnesses said six missile alerts sounded within an hour in Tel Aviv alone.
Around 10 ballistic missiles were fired at central Israel, the newspaper reported. Most of these were intercepted by air defences, while some were allowed to strike open terrain.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said it had launched strikes on dozens of “terror targets” in central Tehran.
The week-long Jewish festival of Passover begins on Wednesday evening, during which Jews commemorate the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and their liberation from slavery.
Iranian reports said the United States and Israel had launched airstrikes during celebrations for the Persian New Year, or Nowruz, on March 20.
