Germany’s government in Ukraine
Berlin (dpa) — The German government aims to encourage German investors to invest more in Ukrainian defence companies or joint ventures.
The Ministry of Defence in Berlin discussed the conditions for this with Ukrainian government representatives on Tuesday.
Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said after the meeting that banks, funds and other relevant players from the financial sector had also taken part in the video conference.
Pistorius said: “Support for Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s brutal war of aggression has evolved into a strategic partnership.”
German Economy Minister Katherina Reiche highlighted the importance of the Ukrainian industry for Europe’s defence capabilities following the meeting.
“Investments in Ukrainian technologies are therefore also investments in our own security,” she said.
Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil made it clear that Germany also wishes to benefit more from investments and cooperation in Ukraine.
