Germany warned US attack

Tel Aviv Beirut (dpa) — The Foreign Office in Berlin has called on German citizens in the Middle East to take safety precautions in light of a potential US attack on Iran, which could also have consequences for Israel and other countries in the region.
Germans in Israel are advised to prepare to stay at their location for some time in case the airspace is closed due to Iranian attacks, the German embassy in Tel Aviv advised on Tuesday.
If the United States attacks Iran, it is expected that Tehran will also target sites in Israel.
In the event of an airspace closure, “the support options from the embassy and the Foreign Office are very limited,” the embassy stated further.
It advised German citizens in Israel to install an app on their mobile phones that warns of impending missile attacks. Those affected were also advised, “in view of the escalating security situation in the region,” to stock up on supplies and familiarize themselves with protection options and shelters at every location.
Warning also for Germans in Lebanon
Germany warned US attack
The Foreign Office warned of a deterioration in the security situation in Israel’s neighbouring country, Lebanon. In the event of further escalation, flight restrictions could occur at any time, the German embassy in Beirut emphasized.
It advised German nationals to closely follow travel and security advice and to stock up on food, water and fuel.
The Lebanese Hezbollah militia is considered Iran’s most important ally in the region.
Already in 2024, the Shiite militia engaged in open warfare with Israel. Since then, it is considered significantly weakened. However, there is concern that it could intervene in the conflict in the event of an attack on Iran.
US significantly increased military presence in region
The US and Iran are currently negotiating over Iran’s controversial nuclear programme, but there has been no tangible progress so far.
US President Donald Trump threatened Tehran with an attack should the negotiations fail. Washington has recently significantly increased its military presence in the region.
Last June, Israel waged war on Iran for 12 days, bombing key nuclear facilities in Iran together with the US. Iran responded with massive rocket attacks on Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv.
