Germany & France will support
Berlin (dpa) — The foreign ministers of Germany and France on Tuesday offered the United States and Israel their support for a political process in the Middle East once the war with Iran ends.
Speaking at a panel discussion in Berlin, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul called for talks aimed at establishing a new regional security architecture, including participation from Gulf states.
Wadephul, who visited Cyprus, Israel and several Gulf countries last week, said his conversation partners have consistently urged Europe to take on a role and initiate dialogue.
He called on Israel and the US to inform European partners once their military objectives in Iran have been achieved, if they want support for a political process.
Wadephul added that he does not expect a change of government in Tehran or a military solution to the conflict.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot warned that the war risks destabilizing the region and could lead to increased migration and a resurgence of terrorism.
He stressed the need to prepare for the post-conflict phase to ensure security and stability for the region.
