China Evacuates Almost 800 Citizens From Iran Amid Escalating Strikes

Beijing (dpa) — China has evacuated almost 800 of its citizens from Iran amid the ongoing conflict with Israel, Beijing said on Wednesday.

More than 1,000 other Chinese nationals are on their way to be evacuated, Foreign Office spokesman Guo Jiakun said.

Chinese embassies in the neighbouring states of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have helped Chinese nationals to enter the countries and leave the region.

China’s diplomatic missions in Israel and Iran have advised citizens to leave the country as quickly as possible due to the escalating situation.

Guo confirmed that some Chinese have already left Israel.
There are no reports of Chinese casualties of victims, he added.

Chinese President XI Jinping has expressed concern about the increase in tensions caused by Israel’s strikes against Iran, the Xinhua news agency reported.

He called on all sides to avoid further escalation.

China is prepared to work with all parties to restore stability in the Middle East, he added.

The attacks in the Middle East are continuing for a sixth day, amid questions over whether the United States is preparing to join Israel’s strikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites.
