500 were left Israeli strikes
Beirut (dpa) — Nearly 500 people have been killed in Lebanon since the latest escalation between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, authorities said on Monday.
Beirut’s government disaster management unit reported that at least 486 people have died and 1,313 have been injured since last Monday.
Following renewed rocket fire from the Lebanese militia Hezbollah into Israel, the Israeli military has launched a major offensive targeting areas controlled by the Shiite group in Lebanon.
The southern suburbs of Beirut, large parts of southern Lebanon and several eastern regions of the country are being targeted.
Authorities said dozens of children are among the dead.
The figures were reported on the 10th day of the spiralling war with Iran, which began when the US and Israel launched a large-scale offensive against the country.
In response, Tehran has fired missiles and drones at several countries in the Gulf region. In support of its key ally, Hezbollah began firing multiple rockets into Israel, opening another front in the conflict.
Israel has also suffered casualties amid the ongoing attacks, primarily originating from Iran. So far, 12 people have been killed in the country and more than 2,200 people have received treatment in hospital, the Israeli Ministry of Health reported.
In addition to those injured directly by missiles, many were hurt while rushing to shelters. The figures also include individuals treated for anxiety and other stress-related conditions triggered by the strikes.
