Kiev (dpa) — At least four people have been killed and three injured in Ukrainian shelling in the Russian border region of Belgorod, local authorities said on Thursday evening.
The victims were travelling in an ambulance in the town of Shebekino, according to Alexander Shuvayev, the acting governor of the western Russian region, who posted the information on Telegram.

Shebekino is around 5 kilometres from the Russian-Ukrainian border. Russian troops have advanced up to 10 kilometres into the neighbouring Ukrainian region of Kharkiv along this section of the border.
Russia has been at war with neighbouring Ukraine since February 2022.
