Dow Loses 2% as Wall Street Stocks Fall Further

Losses on Wall Street deepened Thursday after disappointing US retail sales data and several hawkish central bank announcements to counter inflation. headline news

Near 1600 GMT, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down around 730 points, or 2.1 percent at 33,238.18.

The broad-based S&P 500 fell 2.3 percent to 3,903.42, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 2.7 percent to 10,868.85.

European Stock Losses Deepen With Frankfurt Down 3%

Frankfurt’s blue-chip stock index fell three percent as losses deepened across both sides of the Atlantic Thursday following central bank interest rate hikes and downbeat economic data.

Around 1510 GMT the DAX 40 was down 3.0 percent, while Paris stocks were down 2.9 percent and London shed 0.7 percent. On Wall Street, all main indices were down more than two percent.
