Ukraine slammed EU’s lifting
New York (dpa) — Ukraine has described the lifting of EU sanctions against two Russian billionaires as “shameful and unjustifiable.”
“Moscow is celebrating because it got what it wanted: a sense of impunity, the humiliation of the EU, and division among Europeans,” Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha wrote on X.
The diplomat called on ‘all’ EU member states to now impose their own national sanctions against the two Russians.
Ukraine slammed EU’s lifiting
The comments came after the bloc agreed to lift its sanctions against the Russian oligarchs Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman.
At the same time, measures against around 3,000 other individuals, organizations and companies were extended by 36 months. All those on the list are accused of supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine or of profiting from the Kremlin’s policies.
Ukraine has been defending itself against a large-scale Russian invasion since February 2022, with Western assistance.
